DHBC is the voice and resource for the businesses located in the central business district of Halifax, Nova Scotia. A not-for-profit organization, they run many programs, events, and marketing initiatives to make Downtown Halifax a better place to live, work, and play. DHBC provides their membership with a collective voice at the table on all major issues concerning Downtown Halifax, including development, heritage preservation, all levels of government, the media, and other stakeholders. DHBC works on behalf of their members to: improve business conditions, promote economic development, support the common business interests, and create a positive image for Downtown Halifax and its businesses.
Meridia Recruitment Solutions is currently recruiting for a Membership Engagement Manager to join their team of dedicated professionals in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Membership Engagement Manager is responsible for connecting the Members of DHBC with the organization, primarily through personal contact, engaging volunteers, managing the storefront operation, maintaining DHBC’s member database, and helping maintain a membership-based culture throughout the organization. The Membership Engagement Manager will track participation and increase Member awareness of DHBC initiatives, as well as represent DHBC at community events to increase the organizations profile.
As the ideal candidate, you possess strong organizational and time management skills. Superior relationship skills have been strengthened through your experience working in member relations and/or dealing with the public. Creativity, as well as existing knowledge of Downtown Halifax and its businesses will be preferred. The ability to work both independently and in a team environment is essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required; proficiency with Adobe Design Suite (Photoshop, InDesign) will be considered an asset. With exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, you possess strong business acumen and are highly analytical by nature. A Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field is required. The successful candidate must be capable of visiting any and all Downtown businesses in a variety of weather conditions and must be available and willing to work some evenings and weekends as required.
